KIKO High Pigment Eyeshadow 09: The best brow powder, ever?

Ich werde an dieser Stelle weder über Cara Delevigne noch big brows referieren. Zu oft gesehen und gehört. Nur so viel: Augenbrauen haben in den letzten ca. drei Jahren ein Beauty Comeback gefeiert, dabei waren sie ja nie wirklich weg (wenn man die 20er und 90er weglässt, die, nun ja, die Augenbrauen weggelassen haben – teilweise bis heute). Seitdem ich aufgehört habe, meine Augenbrauen zu zupfen und regelmäßig das M2Lashes Serum aufzutragen, sind wir dicke Freunde geworden. Sie sind oft zwar etwas außer Kontrolle, aber ein wenig Augenbrauengel bringt ihnen schon die nötige Disziplin bei. Obwohl ich mit der Form sehr zufrieden bin, sehe ich in der Fülle noch Verbesserungspotenzial. Genau da kommt der Lidschatten von KIKO ins Spiel. Da Augenbrauen gerade gefeiert werden, sprießen neue Produkte wie Pilze aus dem Boden. Jüngst hat benefit die Zeichen der Zeit erkannt und eine ganze Palette an neuen Produkten gelauncht. Gel, Pomade, Stifte, es gibt nichts, dass es nicht gibt. Ich für meinen Teil, schwöre da auf ein Produkt, dass eigentlich nicht für Augenbrauen gedacht ist. Der High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow Nummer 09 von KIKO eignet sich perfekt als Brauenpuder. Er krümelt nicht und entspricht ganz genau meiner Brauenfarbe. Die 09 ist matt, schön aschig und hält den ganzen Tag. Für 6,90€ ist der Lidschatten auch günstiger als klassischer Augenbrauenpuder. Ich weiß gar nicht, wie oft ich ihn schon nachgekauft habe. Vermutlich öfter, vor allem weil er vor der neuen fancy Verpackung ständig kaputtging, aufgrund der shitty Verpackung. Auch supi: Es sieht nicht künstlich aus. Ich hasse Instagram-Augenbrauen. Ich respektiere die Kunst, aber ich stehe einfach nicht auf diese zu offensichtlich übermalten Balken über den Augen. Und bevor ich es vergesse: Als Lidschatten macht er sich in der Lidfalte übrigens auch sehr gut. 

People have went on and on about Cara Delevingne's eyebrows until she has disappeared. Are eyebrows that important? Yes, they are. "They frame the face" is what make up artists always say. Although eyebrows have been there since forever (except for the 20s and 90s where they went on vacation and unfortunately some haven't returned yet), in the last three years they have received so much attention that brow related products mushroomed like crazy. Just recently benefit launched a whole bunch of new and revamped products to create the perfect brow. Before I started using the M2Lashes serum and outgrowing my eyebrows, we've had a complicated relationship. I overplucked them and they made zero effort to grow back for a very long time, but we're good now. The shape is fine, but they could be fuller tbh. That's where my favorite eyebrow powder comes in. Technically, it's an eyeshadow, but  KIKO's High Pigment Wet and Dry Eyeshadow in 09 is life, people. It matches my natural brow color perfectly, because of the ashy undertones, is matte and doesn't crumble. And for the most important part, it looks natural. I despise Instagram eyebrows. For some it's an art to overdraw the natural shape, but for me its oftentimes so obvious that it hurts my eyes. Anyway, KIKO's High Pigment Eyeshadow is the best inexpensive – 6,90€ say what? – brow product and since they changed the shitty packaging into a more sturdy one, my love for it grew even stronger. Oh and in case you're wondering: It also performs well as an eyeshadow, its a crease color classic.

Inspired by Marsala

Jedes Jahr ernennt das Pantone Color Institute die Farbe des Jahres. Diese soll dann ein Jahr lang den Ton angeben in der Beauty und Fashionindustrie. 2014 hat man mir mit radiant orchid absolut keinen Gefallen getan. Die Farbe erinnerte mich an meine Jugend als Lidschattensünderin oder um noch deutlicher zu werden: Lila Lidschatten bis fast zur Braue auftragen, weil das so schön mit grünen Augen harmoniert. Ich war jung und brauchte das Make up. In diesem Jahr möchte ich Pantone gern ein high Five für eine großartige Farbwahl geben. Marsala passt, wie ich finde, nicht nur toll in die Herbst- und Wintersaison, sondern auch großartig zum 70er Jahre Revival das wir in diesem Jahr und Sommer erleben. Auch wenn ich mich noch mit der Schlaghose anfreunden muss, liebe ich den high waist Schnitt, die Schlapphüte, die Vorliebe für Wildleder und den Zeitgeist dieser Ära. Deswegen gehen meine Daumen hoch für Marsala, das wunderschöne Rotbraun. Vielleicht geht auch das eine oder andere Glas gefüllt mit Marsala hoch, ist ja ursprünglich eine Weinsorte. Jedenfalls habe ich mich in meiner Beautysammlung auf der Suche nach Marsalatönen umgesehen und bin tatsächlich fündig geworden. Ich weiß nicht, ob ich den Ton zu einhundert Prozent getroffen habe, aber ich habe versucht mich inspirieren zu lassen und präsentiere hier meine Ausbeute: Zum einen habe ich eine Lippenstift und Nagellackkombo im Angebot und zum anderen noch einen hübschen Marsalaton für die Augen. Für einen matchy matchy Look wie aus dem Bilderbuch, empfehle ich Opi I'm Suzi and I'm a Chocoholic (leider limitiert) für die Nägel (Essie Chocolate Cakes geht in einer ähnliche Richtung, ist aber dunkler und nicht so bräunlich) und den Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in der Farbe 02 Chunkiest Chili für einen weinroten Kussmund. Dazu nur ein bisschen Mascara und betonte Augenbrauen und fertig.
Etwas dramatischer wirkt Marsala auf den Augenlidern. Ich habe dazu den KIKO 136 Pearly Bordeaux Eye Shadow aus den Tiefen meiner längst vergessenen Lidschattenschublade gekramt. Vielleicht geht es ein wenig zu sehr in die Bordeaux-Richtung, aber wenn ich mir die Nuancen der Sephora + Pantone Universe Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette so anschaue, dann liege ich mit meiner Wahl gar nicht so falsch. Im Alltag sieht Pearly Bordeaux als Lidstrich getragen sensationell aus und wenn es etwas mehr sein darf, dann wirkt der Ton in Kombination mit Braun oder Schwarz richtig fancy. Ich weiß leider nicht, ob die Farbe noch erhältlich ist, alternativ sieht MAC Cranberry aber auch mehr als hübsch aus. Natürlich macht Marsala auch vor Kleiderschränken nicht halt und ich bin mir sicher, dass sich das ein oder andere Teil noch bei mir einfinden wird oder vielleicht sogar schon hat. Ich sollte einfach mal wieder shoppen gehen in meinem Schrank.


Every year the Pantone Color Institute chooses one color to rule the world. Or at least the beauty and fashion industry. Last year they decided that the force may be with radiant orchid aka color of my childhood make up nightmares. Purple eye shadow all over the lid doesn't only sound very unflattering, it also looked unflattering. But on to 2015. This year Pantone made a good choice by giving the crown to Marsala, a rich red-brown shade which should now be seen on faces and bodies all over the world. I'll raise my glass of Marsala wine to drink to that, Pantone. This shade will accompany this year's 70ies revival with it's flared pants (I will have to get used to it), suede leather, wide brimmed hats and all that glitz and glam of that era.
So I checked my beauty stash for Marsala inspired colors and came up with three products which seem to fit in the red-brown color palette.
If you're looking for a pretty nail and lip combo I highly recommend OPI I'm Suzi and I'm a Chocoholic (it was discontinued I think) for your nails (you can also go for Essie's Chocolate Cakes, it is a tad darker though and with less brown undertones) and Clinique's Chubby Stick Intense in the shade 02 Chunkiest Chili for a vampy red-brown pout. Although its a bit matchy matchy, its not awkward like some other combinations I've seen lately.
As you may already know I'm not an eyeshadow kind of girl, but I do have a drawer with pencils, eye liners, shadows and palettes to play around with. I even found a marsalaish eye shadow to test drive the trend on my eyes. KIKO's Eye Shadow in 136 Pearly Bordeaux is more red than brown, but I feel like Sephora + Pantone Universe Facets of Marsala Multi-Finish Eye Palette features colors with some similar vibe. In the daytime I use Pearly Bordeaux as an eye liner for a subtle look. If you want more drama I recommend to pair it with brown or black for a more sophisticated eye make up. I just realized that 136 might be no longer available at KIKO, you can try MAC Cranberry instead. Next thing on my to do list is to get some Marsala into my closet. Maybe I do already own a piece or two and simply forgot about it. Time for some shopping in my own closet.

Ich liebe Lippenbalsam und alles was irgendwie so ein bisschen Farbe auf die Lippen zaubert. Beim Wort "tinted lip balm" geht mir das Herz auf.
Aber manchmal muss es einfach mehr sein. Genauer gesagt: Manchmal muss es roter Lippenstift sein.

Ein klassisches Rot auf den Lippen macht immer etwas her und verleiht der Trägerin sofort eine ordentliche Portion Glamour. Und Aufmerksamkeit. Letzteres ist eher weniger mein Fall... aber wer roten Lippenstift tragen will, der muss da durch.

Ich besitze zwar einige Rottöne, aber die sind entweder halb-transparent oder irgendwie nicht erwähnenswert. Deshalb musste mal ein richtig knalliges Tomatenrot her:

Meine Wahl fiel auf KIKOs Ultra Glossy Stylo SPF 15 in der Farbe 808 Fire Red. KIKO beschreibt ihn als Brillanten Lippenstift im Wet-Look und das ist er auch. Die Textur ist cremig, gleitet gut über die Lippen, ist gut pigmentiert und glänzend. Dabei glänzt der Stylo definitiv weniger als ein gewöhnlicher Lipgloss und ist dementsprechend auch nicht klebrig. I like!

Nach dem Auftragen nehme ich einen leichten, süsslichen Duft wahr, dieser verfliegt aber auch recht fix. Die Haltbarkeit mit zwei bis drei Stunden ist okay.
Tagsüber tupfe ich ihn ganz leicht auf die Lippen für einen Hauch Farbe. Es muss ja nicht immer der ganz große Auftritt sein ;)

Mit 4,90€ ist der Ultra Glossy Stylo ein echtes Schnäppchen. Fire Red wird in meiner Sammlung also sicher nicht der Letzte seiner Art sein.


I love, love, love lip balm and everything that manages to nourish my lips and add a hint of color at the same time. When I hear "tinted lip balm" my heart skips a beat.
But sometimes you just need a little bit more. To be more precise: Red lipstick.

A red lip is always classy and gives you instant glamour. Plus: you get a lot of attention. Well, that is my least favorite part of it, but I will get over it...

I have a couple of red lipsticks in my stash, some are semi-transparent and some just not that exciting to mention. So it was about time for a bright red lipstick:

I picked up KIKO's Ultra Glossy Stylo SPF 15 in 808 Fire Red. KIKO describes this as a glossy, wet-look SPF 15 lipstick, and thats exactly what it is. The texture is creamy, glides on easily, is nicely pigmented and shiny. It is not as glossy as a regular lip gloss and not sticky at all. I like!

After applying it I noticed a sweet scent, but that disappeared after a few minutes. It lasted for some two or three hours on me and faded afterwards.
I like to only dap it on my lips during day time, so that it leaves more of a red stain. Life is not always a big show ;)

Only 4,90€? Fire Red will get some company soon.
