For the love of Bronzers and Lipsticks: H&M Beauty

Wenn es irgendwo einen großen neuen Beautylaunch gibt, bin ich immer ganz aufgeregt. Als ich die ersten Pressebilder von H&Ms neuer Beautylinie sah, war mein excitement Level schon recht hoch. Online sah auch alles ganz gut aus, aber erst als ich das neue Sortiment live gesehen habe, packte es mich. Wenn H&M eines richtig gemacht hat, dann ist es die Auswahl. Man kann sich schwer für ein Teil entscheiden. Im Bereich Foundation, Puder und Concealer ist das super, weil jeder bei einer Nuance fündig werden dürfte. Bei allem anderen erschlägt es einen fast. Es gibt so unendlich viele Farben. Ich habe mich auf direktem Wege auf die Lippenstifte gestürzt und die für mich schönste Nuance herausgepickt. Insgesamt konnte ich mich auf drei Teile einlassen: 

Den Cream Lip Colour in Deco Ruby, den Lip Fixation Primer und den Solar Flair Bronzing Powder in Sheer Tan. 

Zunächst das Offensichtliche, die Verpackung. Auch wenn es sich hier selbstverständlich um Plastik handelt, ist das Design der Produkte ziemlich chic. Schwarz, Creme und Gold sehen in Kombination auch einfach hochwertig aus. 

Auch die Detailanalyse an sich fällt für meine Teile ziemlich positiv aus. 

Der Lip Fixation Primer verlängert die Haltbarkeit des Lippenstifts enorm. Er verläuft nicht, bleibt auch nach dem Essen und Trinken deutlich sichtbar auf meinen Lippen. Einziger Minuspunkt: Er trocknet aus, wüstenmäßig. Der Lippenstift wird nach einiger Zeit matt (was ich sehr begrüße), aber eben auch trocken. Lip Balm darunter Auftragen bringt nicht sooo viel, dafür muss am nächsten Tag viel Pflege drauf. Beim Lip Primer ist daher ein wenig Hassliebe im Spiel. Würde er nicht so wunderbar nach Vanillezucker duften, würde ich ihn vielleicht ein klein wenig lieber mögen. 

Der Cream Lip Colour in Deco Ruby dagegen ist eine absolute Perle. Pigmentiert ohne Ende und ultracremig. Die Farbe ist ein kräftiges, dunkles Pink/Rot, das für mich perfekt in den Herbst passt. Auch hier ist wieder ein Hauch Vanille wahrnehmbar, aber das vergeht ganz fix. 

Das letzte Teil aus meinem H&M Beauty Einkaufskörbchen ist der Solar Flair Bronzing Powder in Sheer Tan. Alleine beim Bronzer kann man aus fünf verschiedenen Nuancen wählen. Sheer Tan erschien mir als passendste Nuance für mich. Und mein geschultes Auge täuscht sich nicht. Im Gesicht aufgetragen wirkt die feine Textur unsichtbar, aber ich deutlich lebendiger. Er krümmelt nicht, wird nicht fleckig, ist nicht orange und hat keinen offensichtlichen Schimmer. Perfekt also.

Preislich lagen alle Teile bei 10€, schon etwas weiter über dem Drogerieniveau. Dafür empfinde ich die Qualität meiner ausgewählten Produkte aber auch als völlig ok für den Preis. 

Als nächstes werde ich mir die BB Cream ansehen, weil ich die Textur beim swatchen schon irgendwie ein wenig gut fand. Der Concealer wirkte auch solide, von den Liplinern möchte ich gar nicht weiter sprechen... 

Whenever there is a major new beauty launch, I get exited. So when I saw the pictures of H&M's then upcoming new beauty line back in summer, I could barely hold myself. When the products appeared online in September I couldn't decide on just one item (we're talking 700 pieces here), but when I finally got to check out some things in store  I felt my excitement level rising within minutes. 

I ended up with exactly three things (but there's more on my wish list, naturally). 

The things I got are a Cream Lip Colour in Deco Ruby, a Lip Fixation Primer and Solar Flair Bronzing Powder in Sheer Tan. Each retails für 10€.

First things first: packaging. Of course you don't get super high quality packaging for this kind of price tag, but black, creme and gold look expensive nevertheless. 

I have a love hate relationship with the Lip Fixation Primer. It has a strong vanilla scent to it, which I love, but doesn't last long. More important: it turns your lipstick into a nearly bulletproof version of color. I wore it with the H&M lip color and experienced no smudging, no bleeding and minimal fading after drinking and eating. It makes the color matte after a while, which is a good thing in my opinion, but it's also drying. It gets five stars in the drying department. I suggest you stock up on lip balm, because if you have dry sensitive lips like mine, you will need a lot of it the next day. 

The Cream Lip Colour is amazing. It is creamy, the pigmentation is insane and it lasts for a rather long time, even without a primer. Deco Ruby is a very dark pink/red and is a great shade for fall. 

Finally the Bronzer. If you're looking for a very natural looking, shimmer free Bronzer then let me introduce you to the Solar Flair Bronzing Powder. The texture isn't too dry but fine and buttery and it doesn't look patchy on the skin. Sheer Tan is a good match for my light skin. There are five shades available, so chances are high that there's a shade for every one.

Overal I'm really impressed with the pieces I've picked up. I still have my eye on the BB Cream, which I liked texture wise when I swatched it in store. The concealers also seemed great and don't get me started on the lip pencils...

Douglas Produkttest Smashbox: Full Exposure Mascara, 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio Filter und Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes

Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit hat Douglas wieder zu einem Produkttest aufgerufen. Ich hatte Glück und konnte ein vierteiliges Set von Smashbox testen. Ich kannte bisher nur den Photo Finish Foundation Primer der Marke und fand den schon ziemlich gut.

Mein Set besteht aus der Full Exposure Mascara, dem 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, dem Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in der Farbe Filter und der Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes. Also alles Produkte, die man für ein perfektes Augen Makeup braucht. 

Today I would like to introduce you to some products by Smashbox. I received a four piece set to play around, thanks to Douglas. My set consists of the Full Exposure Mascara, the 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in Filter and their new Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes. 

Los geht's mit der Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black. Sie verspricht bis zu "14% mehr Volumen, bis zu 32% mehr Länge und bis zu 34 Grad stärker geschwungene Wimpern" (Quelle Douglas). Die Mascara ist in der Tat tiefschwarz. Das Bürstchen ist riesig. Ich verstehe den volumenspendenden Sinn dahinter, aber man tuscht fast automatisch ein bisschen Lid mit. Eine etwas kleinere Bürste wäre von Vorteil. Und leider hält sie nicht, was sie verspricht. Ich muss dazu sagen, dass meine Wimpern der Horror sind. Sie sind super gerade, müssen ca. 15Min mit der Wimpernzange bearbeitet werden und halten den leichten Schwung dann auch nur mit manchen (!) wasserfesten Wimperntuschen. Die Full Exposure Mascara von Smashbox lässt meinen hart erarbeiteten Schwung einfach verschwinden. Meine Wimpern biegen sich automatisch wieder nach unten. I'm not amused. Allerdings muss man hier die tiefschwarze Färbung positiv erwähnen. Außerdem bröckelt sie auch kaum.
Auf den Bildern unten habe ich meine Wimpern einmal mit meiner regulären Mascara getuscht und einmal mit der Full Exposure. Die Lichtverhältnisse waren leider nicht optimal, aber ich hoffe man erkennt meine Absicht dahinter. 

Let's start with the Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black. It is supposed to add "14% more volume to lashes, 32% more length and curl lashes for about 34 degree" (source: Douglas). First things I noticed were that this mascara is really black, which is good and the second thing is the huge mascara wand. I can see why they chose a big wand like this for volume, but it's so huge, that I end up with mascara all over my eyes when using it. No matter how hard I try not to touch my eyelid, it happens anyway. So what's up with volume and length? Unfortunately not much. I think I mentioned it before, but my lashes are super straight. I need 15 minutes to curl them with my lash curler and most mascaras don't succeed in holding the damn curl. There are only a few waterproof mascaras that can do the trick. And the Full Exposure mascara doesn't belong to these chosen ones. What's good about it though, is that it doesn't smudge easily.
I included two pictures below. Number one shows my lashes when using a waterproof mascara and number two when using the Full Exposure mascara.

Der 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer schneidet da schon viel besser ab. Der Primer verspricht intensive Farbe und langen Halt. Das kommt hin. Ob es wirklich 24h Stunden sind, kann ich nicht bestätigen, weil ich mich selten 24h lang geschminkt rumtreibe ;) Aber einen halben Tag schafft mein Augen Makeup damit locker. Die Base ist durchsichtig und geruchsneutral. Es wird empfohlen, den Primer 60 Sekunden trocknen zu lassen, bevor Lidschschatten aufgetragen wird. Das würde ich auch jedem ans Herz legen, weil der Lidschatten sonst gleich in die Fältchen wandert. Wir wissen alle wie das dann aussieht und das will doch keiner. 

Fazit: Top Produkt! 

I am much more amused with the 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer. It promises to make eyeshadows really pop and a lasting time of 24h. I haven't worn my eye make up for 24 hours, but it lasted nearly all day with this primer. This base is sheer and fragrance free. They recommend to let the primer dry for 60 seconds before the application of any eye shadow. I recommend to do so. I didn't wait the first time and my eye shadow ended up having a private party in my eyelid creases. No one likes that. So sit down for this one minute and then let the primer do it's magic. 

Wo ein Lidschatten Primer ist, kann der Lidschatten nicht weit sein. Das Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in der Farbe Filter wurde auch gleich mitgeliefert. Es besteht aus den Farben Vanilla, Sable und Sumatra. Die Nuancen sind perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt und schön natürlich. Nach jahrelangem Lidschatten-Missbrauch in meiner Teenagerzeit, genieße ich Farbe auf meinen Augenlidern lieber wenig bis gar nicht dosiert. Hier mache ich aber gerne eine Ausnahme. Vanilla eignet sich natürlich optimal als Highlighter unter der Braue. Sable als Base für Sumatra und fertig. Die Farben sind matt und nicht zu pudrig. In Verbindung mit dem Primer bleibt die Farbe den ganzen Tag an Ort und Stelle. 

Nur am Rande: Vanilla ist nicht ganz so stark pigmentiert wie Sable oder Sumatra.

A primer needs eye shadow to show the world how great it is. That's what the folks over at Douglas thought and so they included the Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in Filter in the set. It consists of three perfectly matching shades: Vanilla, Sable and Sumatra. Vanilla is perfect for highlighting (thinking inner eye corners and eye brow), Sable is a great light brown base for Sumatra, which adds definition. All colors are rather matte and not too powdery. Vanilla is a tad less pigmented than Sable or Sumatra. I like that Filter provides a very natural looking eye make up. I excessively used eye shadow in my teenage years and tend to stay away from every form of it now, but I like what Smashbox has done here. 

Das Produkt auf das ich am meisten gespannt war, ist die Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes in der hellsten Nuance Light. Wir kennen BB, CC und wahrscheinlich auch schon DD creams. Für das Gesicht. Aber eine BB Cream fürs Auge? Das ist neu. Was kann sie denn so? Laut Hersteller vereint sie alle Eigenschaften einer BB-Cream, mit der Pflege einer Augencreme. Sie soll zudem den Concealer ablösen, dunkle Augenschatten kaschieren, Schwellungen mindern, empfindliche Haut beruhigen und Frische verleihen. Außerdem hat sie einen SPF 15. Farblich passt sie schon mal sehr gut zu meinem Teint. Ist weder zu hell, noch zu dunkel für meine Augenpartie. Die BB Cream Eyes wird mittels integriertem Pinsel aufgetragen. Das Produkt gelangt durch einen Knopf-Mechanismus in den Pinsel. Anfangs erwischt man gerne mal zu viel, aber das legt sich. Ich trage die Cream zwar mit dem integrierten Pinsel auf, arbeite sie aber mit meinem normalen Concealer Pinsel ein und sette das Ganze dann mit Puder. Wie auch bei meinen anderen Concealern, setzt sich das Produkt gerne in Lichtgeschwindigkeit in meinen Fältchen ab, wenn ich es nicht sofort abpudere. Das trocknet die Haut natürlich ein wenig aus und wird nach einiger Zeit leider etwas cakey. Die Deckkraft ist okay, die Augenpartie wird auch etwas aufgehellt. Als Concealer-Alternative durchaus denkbar. 

The last product of the bunch was the one that got my attention from the beginning: Smashbox released a BB Cream for Eyes. Their Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes in Light is supposed to offer you all the benefits of a BB cream, but not for your face but eyes. I mean we have seen hundreds of BB, CC and I think also DD creams, so why not BB our eyes? What to expect from this innovation? Smashbox says that it can cover dark under eye shadows, depuff and hydrate eyes and do the work of a traditional concealer. It also includes a SPF 15. "Light" is a great match for my skin tone, not too much yellow or pink. The packaging includes a brush for application, it basically works like the Touché Éclat. I apply it with the pen, but prefer to use my regular concealer brush to work it into my skin. Like with any other concealer, I have to use powder afterwards to set it. Otherwise the concealer just disappears in my creases. Because of the powder my under eye area becomes dry during the day and the concealer gets a slightly cakey finish. I have experienced this with a lot of concealers, so nothing new here. It may be an alternative to your regular concealer, but it is not overwhelmingly innovative. 

Insgesamt schneiden alle Produkte nicht schlecht ab. Höchstes Lob verdient der 24 Hour Photo Finish Eye Shadow Primer, gefolgt von dem Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio. Die Full Exposure Mascara funktioniert vielleicht nur in Verbindung mit meinen Wimpern nicht. Wer nicht ganz so widerspenstige Wimpern hat, kann sein Glück versuchen. Die Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes ist ein guter Concealer, aber keine weltbewegende Innnovation. 

Overall these four products are of good quality and some of them can live up to their promises. The 24 Hour Photo Finish Eye Shadow Primer deserves top ratings, the Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio is also a good choice. The Full Exposure Mascara might work great on other lashes (less straight) than mine. The Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes is good concealer, but no game changer.

Finally! They are mine! Eos lip balm. I think I will write a review on them soon, because they are just great. Thanks to Bibi and Irina I now have two of these little balls. Left is summer fruit and right is pomegranate raspberry. So so good.

Biotherm's Biosource tonic lotion is a classic. Right now it is available in a smaller, limited edition packaging. It contains 125ml, instead of the regular 200ml bottle. Great size if you want to test it before you get the full size. I like that it makes my skin soft and refreshes it. I found this at my local Douglas.

Sometimes a primer comes in handy, though I would recommend not using it everyday, because the silicones most primers contain may not exactly be the healthiest thing you can do for your skin. But from time to time it's nice to use a primer: your make up lasts longer and your skin appears to be very smooth. Benefit's the Porefessional is the best primer I have tested so far. So if you want to splurge get this (Smashbox is also an expert when it comes to primers).

MAC'S Tropical Taboo collection was a hit this summer. This beauty right here was one of the Mineralize Skinfinishes out of the collection. This color is called Adored and it's a peachy coral with champagne shimmer. I like to dust a little over my cheekbones for a nice glow. I'm not sure if I should write a review on this since it was limited and is no longer available. This was a gift, a pretty nice one.

Yes, it's NARS! But nope, this is not Orgasm. This is Deep Throat. It is soooo pretty. I mean look at it. I asked Bibi to get me this in Seattle and only in case of total unavailability to bring Orgasm. I believe that there a tons of reviews on all blushes NARS ever made. So there is not much left to say: They are great. Great pigmentation, great colors, crazy names. Every blush junkie should own one. At least one. Or all.

I can shop beauty stuff at any place. Even at H&M and surprisingly these two products are not bad at all. The Liquid Eyeliner could have a thinner tip, but performs okay. The Eyebrow Pencil in Light Brown is really a bargain (it was 2€ I think). Although I prefer powder for my eyebrows, it's good to fill in some spare areas with a pencil sometimes. And the shade is a good match for my natural brow color.

My boyfriend is the best. Seriously. I just mentioned this once. I was all excited that Marc Jacobs has released a new yummy scent and that the design is so freakin' cute and to be honest: This is girl's stuff. Is there any man on earth who likes to listen to this kind of talk? I didn`t think so. I was wrong. My boyfriend paid attention (he always does) and so Honey ended up being one of my fabulous birthday gifts.

                         The fragrance came with a tiny rollerball, very handy to have it in a purse.

 And there was this cute pouch in the cutest polka dot design, too.

This was another gift I received lately. Jour d'Hermés. The day I discovered this fragrance I had a terrible headache and still could stand the scent. Good sign. Normally I'm not that much into Hermés fragrances, but this is phenomenal. It's fresh, but it's also sweet. Where have you been all my life?
