Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Redwood Forest

I often mentioned that brands which aren't available in Germany are the most interesting ones. We have tons of brands and also some which are available overseas, but still there are major differences in product ranges. Yankee Candle is a good example: We have a good variety of scents here, but whenever I check out the American website I'm like "whooooa. I need these Cinnamon Vanilla and Cotton Candy tarts". Another example is Burt's Bees. Their lip balms and tinted lip balms are available here as well, but how about their new lip crayons which are already available in the US&Canada? I haven't spotted them yet, but since I needed to give them a try I had to get my hands on at least one of them no matter how. So here we go with Burt's Bees Lip Crayon in Redwood Forest. The packaging must be familiar by now. The lip color comes in a chubby stick like tube. The cap has this cute honeycomb structure on it, which is a reminder that Burt's Bees is all about that honey.
There are six shades in total, I decided to give Redwood Forest a try. It's a deep red which is anything but sheer and instantly reminds me of fall. I'm perfectly aware that we're in the nearly midst of June now, but this can't wait till October. There's no detectable scent, which maybe good news for some of you and bad news for others. I just need a little bit of cotton candy or lemon cake flavor in my lip products. Lasting time is ok, but you will have to reapply the color after eating and drinking. A huge plus is that they are totally affordable. Burt's Bees Lip Crayons retail for 9$. Let's see if they will make it to the German/European market...

I know I'm late, but I hope you all had a merry christmas! Although christmas is over I want to show you the nail polish I wore while celebrating the past days with my family. I don't know about you, but before christmas eve arrives I am super busy. Decorating, gift wrapping, preparing food, visiting family and so on. Blogtime=zero. But enough talking: To celebrate the festive days properly I wore Thanks So Muchness! from OPI's Alice in Wonderland collection spring 2010. Its a medium red which leans towards a more berry color with subtle shimmer. The shimmer isn't very pronounced but it gives Thanks So Muchness! some dimension. To me Thanks So Muchness! is a typical christmas color, looks like christmas tree ornaments or candy cane aka typical christmas candy of my childhood.

This week's nail polish is a favorite in my stash. It's just breathtaking. German-icury by Opi from Opi's Germany collection 2012 has a black base and tons of burgundy shimmer. It's so fall appropriate and festive and reminds me of a glazed apple you see on the christmas markets here in Germany. It looks as if the shimmer is locked in under a heavy coat of shiny top coat. I received a lot of compliments this week. People seem to like shimmery, vampy colors like German-icure by Opi. I wish the pictures could show you how beautiful this shade really is, but the sun goes down so early right now and the daylight is just grey...

Das Zweierset Icons of Style beinhaltet den silbrig schimmernden My Signature is "DC" und Coca-Cola Red.

So when James Franco tells you that you are one sexy thing while sipping on a Coke Light (I'm referring to the commercial here, not to what happened last saturday night), you just believe him and immediately feel the urge to get yourself a coke to sit next to James letting him tell you more about your sex appeal and if that's not an option (we are living one busy life) at least get a coke themed nail polish. The nail polish was easier to get my hands on (again, busy life). So I grabbed the Icons of Style Duo pack which also includes My Signature is "DC" and decided to paint my nails in the ultimate Coca-Cola Red. It's creamy, rich and just a perfect red shade. Here we have a classic case of a one coat only nail polish. Seriously. Great, great pigmentation. I needed two coats though, just in case of, well actually I don't know what case exactly.

Was soll ich sagen? Ich bin ein totaler Herbstfarbentyp. Beere? Nehm ich! Lamettarot? Ist gekauft! Holidaypink? Genau mein Ding!

It's officially fall now. I can finally stop hiding my precious shimmering nail polishes and stop pretending that I am so into bold, neon colors. Because, let's be honest I am not. Sure, I like a good coral and bold red, but I will always prefer plum over banana. That's right, I love all kinds of fall colors and will always be more attracted to the dark side. Sorry Luke.
So Bogotá Blackberry is this week's color to welcome the sweater weather season. It is part of Opi's classic collection and is a nice berry color somewhere between red and pink with lots of shimmer. The good kind of shimmer, the lit from within kind. I just have a sweet spot for shimmers like Bogotá Blackberry. Man, I can't wait for this year's Holiday Collection. Want to know what I need to celebrate fall? Two coats of Bogotá Blackberry, some top coat, a pile of scented candles (anything pumpkin related will do: Pumpkin frosting or spice or patch...) and a pumpkin spice latte. Hello fall, I already fell for you. Or at least your colors.

Stuff I love: Tom Ford Vampire Kiss lipstick

Genau so passiert.

There are presents and there are presents which make you whisper "Omg Tom Ford" to your best friend in the backseat of a car. Yes, that's what happened after a friend handed over a Tom Ford lipstick out of nowhere just as a little surprise gift. I mean I own some lipsticks, but we're talking about Tom Ford here. That's a different story. I'm a beauty snop and I know it. Tom Ford lipsticks have everything to make a beauty snop's heart beat faster. Fancy, super luxurious packaging, that engraved TF logo on the lipstick itself, the great pigmentation, long lasting color and creative names (vampire kiss instantly reminded me of True Blood. How could they end True Blood? Why?). I bet now you're thinking "Jeez, keep it together. It's just a lipstick". Maybe. But you can't disagree with me, that this is way more luxurious than your average drugstore lipstick. But now off to the core of this story:

Tom Ford Vampire Kiss (29) lipstick has been released with the Jasmin Rouge collection as a limited holiday edition last year. It is a rich cherry red with a hint of shimmer. The shimmer is really subtle and has an almost metallic sheen to it, but again subtle. It is rather matte and very nicely pigmented. I just needed a single swipe for full opacity. Wearing time is good, about five hours without too much lip action. It fades evenly and leaves a red stain behind. I love red lipstick, but don't wear it too often. Too much attention I think. But there are these rare days when I'm brave enough to wear a bold lip and that's when Vampire Kiss will be my first choice. I would love to tell you to go and get it, but as I mentioned before, this was limited edition (insert sad face emotikarl here). But I can only imagine that all lipsticks included in Tom Ford's beauty range are this great. That's what I expect looking at the price tag.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Tropical Punch

Tropical Punch.

The name of this week's nail polish already screams summer: Tropical Punch is a friuty red/pink that reminds me of juicy watermelon. It's one of Opi's classic nail polishes. It's so incredibly pigmented that you can get away with just one coat. I applied two coats plus top coat and had to repeat it like three times. My top coat had some serious issues with bubbles or maybe it was just the super humid air yesterday. I wasn't in the mood to re-apply my nail polish a fourth time, so unfortunately we will have to deal with some bubbles this week. Or let's just say they are tiny ice cubes in a glass of tropical punch.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: The Thrill of Brazil

Weil das letzte Finalspiel so spannend war, passte The Thrill of Brazil vom Namen her ganz hervorragend!

Later than usual I would like to show you my nail polish of the week: It's The Thrill of Brazil, now a classic but originally released back in 2002 with the South America collection. I figured, that the name fits perfectly to describe the final FIFA World Cup game. Thrilling and Germany made it! I spent the last few days in Poland to visit my family and missed the parties going on to celebrate our fourth star. But anyway, The Thrill of Brazil is a true red with a creme finish. It is opaque with one coat, but I prefer two plus topcoat to get the most of it. And when I say the most, I mean one week of wearing time. I took the pictures below after one week. Not bad, right? Oh and The Thrill of Brazil could easily replace Red Hot Rio (here you have it) from this year's brazil collection .

New in: Colorful jewelry

If you don't call this a colorful statement necklace, then I don't know what a colorful statement necklace should look like. It combines some of my favorite nail polish shades for summer. How great.

This bracelet was a gift from Ania. So pretty and just perfect for summer.

Every good nail polish collection needs at least one nice red shade. Opi's Brazil collection has it and named it Red Hot Rio. It is a crelly, a creme and jelly hybrid. I prefer creme over jelly nail polish, simply to avoid a visible nail line, but Red Hot Rio has enough creme "in it" to cover my nails completely with just two coats. And it is incredibly shiny, too.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick: 02 Frambourjoise

It seems like everyone is raving about the Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks by Bourjois. Why, you ask? Because they are phenomenal! The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipsticks are matte lip creams with an unbelievable lasting power. They are creamy, definitely feel like velvet on the lips and are super matte.
My color 02 Frambourjoise is a bold pink with red undertones and also the other way round, red with pink undertones. Can't really describe it.
They also leave behind a stain, which is not easy to remove. I tried to rub it off after swatching, no chance. For proof, see the pictures below.
I asked Ania to get me one of these fabulous lipsticks while she was in Poland, because I'm not planing another trip to any location which carries the brand.
There is a "neutral" scent I can notice, if a neutral scent makes any sense.
They retail for about 13€. A fair price considering texture and lasting power.

Good luck rubbing it off...
