Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Baby Please Come Home liquid sand

Mehr Mariah! Es hört irgendwie nicht auf, oder? Aber mal ehrlich, die Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 Kollektion hatte auch einfach mal 18 Farben plus Gold Topcoat. Da war natürlich Einiges für mich dabei. Den liquid sand Lack Baby Please Come Home habe ich neben Make Him Mine (hier zu sehen) auch gleich bei der Begutachtung der ersten Pressebilder ins Auge gefasst. Baby Please Come Home ist ein silbriger, heller Lila-ton mit dem gewohnten Sandfinish. Wahnsinnig hübsch. Trocknet fix und ist nach einer Schicht auch perfekt deckend. Und dann ist er auch noch einer von drei Lacken in diesem zuckersüßen Mini-set. Das musste ich einfach haben.

More Mariah! Again?, you may think. Oh yes, thats what I think! I mean, the Mariah Carey holiday 2013 collection consists of 18 colors plus gold top coat. So of course, I had to have some of them. After the release of the official collection pictures I knew that I will have to get Baby Please Come Home and Make Him Mine (see swatches of Make Him Mine here) immediately. Baby Please Come Home is a silverish, lilac liquid sand. It is so pretty. It dries in seconds and is opaque with one coat. And it comes in one of the adorable mini-sets. Had to have this one.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Warm Me Up

My Private Jet, den ich vor zwei Wochen vorgestellt habe (hier zu sehen) hat mich irgendwie auf den Geschmack gebracht. Warm Me Up aus der Mariah Carey Holiday Kollektion 2013 hat auch wieder eine gräulich-bräunliche Base mit silbernerem und sehr, sehr feinem Mini-Schimmer in Multifarben. Die erste Schicht Warm Me Up war noch etwas fleckig, aber die zweite Schicht hat alles schön ausgeglichen. Noch etwas Topcoat, damit der Schimmer schön zur Geltung kommt und schwupps bin ich begeistert von der Farbe.

When I showed you My Private Jet two weeks ago (see it here) I had no clue how much I like colors like these. Warm Me Up from Mariah Carey's holiday collection 2013 also has a brownish charcoal base with some silver and very tiny multicolored shimmer. The first coat was a little bit patchy, but the second coat did an excellent job. I also used some top coat to really bring out the shimmer in Warm Me Up. Maybe it is somewhat frosty, but it definitely does warm me up. So pretty.

New Year's Eve nails: OPI Wonderous Star

Wie schon letztes Jahr, trage ich zu Silvester auch wieder einen Lack aus der Holiday Kollektion 2013. Im letzten Jahr war es Goldeneye aus der Skyfall James Bond Kollektion (hier zu sehen) und in diesem Jahr ist es Wonderous Star aus der Mariah Carey Holiday Kooperation mit OPI. Ich liebe die Holiday Kollektionen einfach (denkt nur an die Muppets von 2011 <3). Wonderous Star hat eine glitzernde, champagnerfarbige Base und ist durchzogen von kleinen, runden schwarzen Glitzerpartikeln. Eigentlich weniger mein Fall, dachte ich bis ich ihn aufgetragen habe. Wonderous Star glitzert wie ein Feuerwerk, ist aber nicht trashig. Ich habe Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs. als Unterlack genutzt, weil ich ein bisschen Sorge hatte, dass Wonderous Star alleine zu transparent sein könnte, Stichwort visible nail line. Mit Unterlack, einer Schicht Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs., zwei Schichten Wonderous Star und einer Schicht Topcoat ist es perfekt und das neue Jahr kann kommen.

Ich bin schon gespannt was 2014 alles passieren wird und was für tolle neue Kollektionen auf den Markt kommen werden...

I'm not sure if it's already a tradition, but I tend to wear a nail polish from Opi's current holiday collection for New Year's Eve. I just love the holiday collections. Remember the Muppets? Loved it. Last year I wore Goldeneye from the James Bond Skyfall collection (see it here) and this year it is Wonderous Star from Mariah Carey's collaboration with OPI. Wonderous Star has a glittery champagne base and small, black hex glitter. I didn't think much of it in the bottle, because it's not exactly my cup of tea. But I ended up liking it more than I thought. It's like a tiny fire work on my nails and looks very elegant. I used my regular base coat, one coat of Mimosas for Mr. & Mrs., two coats of Wonderous Star and some top coat. I was afraid that applied alone, Wonderous Star might show a visible nail line, so Mimosas for Mr.&Mrs. provided a great base. 

Enough talking, let's see what's there for us in 2014. Can't wait for all new upcoming nail polish collections...

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Underneath the Misteltoe

Ich habe zwei lieblings Weihnachtssongs: Rockin' around the christmas tree von Brenda Lee (aus Kevin allein Zuhaus) und All I want for christmas von Mariah Carey. Weihnachten und Mariah passen einfach zusammen. Deswegen ist Underneath the Misteltoe aus der diesjährigen Mariah Carey Holiday Kollektion auch der perfekte Weihnachtslook für die Nägel. Er ist rot, glänzt schön und glitzert. Aber kein bling-bling Glitzer, nicht protzig und unübersehbar, viel besser: Der Glitzer bei Underneath the Misteltoe wirkt, als wäre er in der Farbe eingeschlossen oder so ähnlich (ich bin leider eine Erklär-Niete). Zwei Schichten plus Topcoat und Weihnachten kann kommen. Underneath the Misteltoe ist für mich der bisher perfekteste Nagellack für die Weihnachtszeit. Also schnell noch die Nägel lackieren, Geschenke auspacken und das Weihnachtsessen genießen. Frohe Weihnachten euch allen!

I have two favorite Christmas songs: Number one is Rockin' around the Christmas tree by Brenda Lee (Home Alone comes to my mind immediately) and Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas. I somehow can't separate Mariah Carey and Christmas, so my nail polish for the holidays had to be one from Mariah Carey's Holiday 2013 collection: Underneath the Misteltoe is the perfect shiny red with just the right amount of glitter in it. It's no obvious bling-bling-kinda glitter, it actually looks as if the glitter is inside the color (my explanations suck, I know). 

The photos show two coats plus top coat. Underneath the Misteltoe is by far my favorite nail polish for the holiday season.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Sleigh Ride For Two

Und wieder ein wunderhübscher Lack aus der Mariah Carey Holiday Kollektion 2013: Sleigh Ride For Two ist ein rötlich/bräunlicher, schimmernder Pflaumenton. Er ist irgendwie so etwas wie der dunklere, aber nicht minder hübsche Bruder von I Knead Sour-Dough aus der San Francisco Collection. Und wer den Post über I Knead Sour-Dough gelesen hat (wenn nicht, dann ist er hier zu finden), weiß dass das für mich eine Traumfarbe ist. Sleigh Ride For Two steht also auch ganz oben auf der Liste. Er deckt nach zwei Schichten optimal und hält mit Topcoat wie immer fast eine Woche. Ach und hab ich schon erwähnt, dass er aus der Mariah Carey Kollektion stammt? Perfekt also.

Here we have another beauty from Mariah Carey's Holiday 2013 collection: Sleigh Ride For Two is dark shimmering, plumish maroon. It somehow reminds me of I Knead Sour-Dough from the San Francisco collection and I loooove I Knead Sour-Dough (read all about it here). Sleigh Ride For Two is darker though, but it's definitely in my top ten. Two coats for full opacity and some top coat so the shine will last longer. Oh and did I mention that it's from the latest Mariah Carey collection? You see, it has all right to be in my top ten.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Brisbane Bronze

"Das sieht ja aus wie flüssiges Metall!" Stimmt. Brisbane Bronze aus der Australia Collection vom Sommer 2007 ist ein schimmernder Bronze/Kupferton, der an Sonnenöl erinnern soll. Tut er. Obwohl die Farbe für mich eher herbstlich daher kommt. Zwei Schichten sind im Handumdrehen getrocknet und Topcoat nimmt das etwas matte Finish. Am besten benutzt ihr auch einen Ridgefiller, der Lack setzt sich gerne in den Rillen ab. Siehe Foto.

Brisbane Bronze erinnert mich sehr an Sprung aus der Mariah Carey Kollektion (hier zu sehen). Also habe ich meine Swatchsticks verglichen. Zu ähnlich? Muss man beide haben? Ich tendiere mehr zu Sprung, weil er facettenreicher ist und noch intensiver schimmert.


"It looks like liquid metal." Yes, that's right. Brisbane Bronze from the 2007 Australia Collection is a shimmering bronze/copper color that should remind you of tanning oil. It does, but it also feels very fall-like to me. Two fast drying coats are enough for full opacity and a top coat adds extra shine. Oh and use a ridge filler, the pictures show why.

Brisbane Bronze immediately reminded me of Sprung from the Mariah Carey collection that has been released earlier this year (see swatches here). I compared the swatch sticks of both to see if they are dupes. Too close? Not close at all? Do you need both? I think I'm a little bit more attracted to Sprung because it is richer in color and has more shimmer and dimension in it than Brisbane Bronze.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Make Him Mine liquid sand

Ich habe ja bereits erwähnt, dass ich eine eher speziellere Beziehung zu Mariah Carey habe (hier nochmal zu lesen) und deswegen war ich nach dieser Nachricht auch wieder völlig aus dem Häuschen (obwohl ich mittlerweile einsehe, dass ich nicht singen kann wie Mariah und ihr auch nicht ähnlich sehe): Eine 18-teilige Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 Kollektion. Yaaaay! Sofort wurden die Pressebilder gesucht und Lieblingsfarben herausgepickt. Da es aber immer eine ganze Weile dauern kann, bis die Lacke in Deutschland erhältlich sind, war Bibi so lieb und hat mir gleich ein paar aus den Staaten mitgebracht.

Die Kollektion besteht aus zwölf Creme-, Schimmer und Glitterlacken und sechs liquid sand Lacken. Die Farben sind fast alle ziemlich weihnachtlich und stimmen perfekt auf die kalte Jahreszeit ein - große Überraschung bei einer Holiday Kollektion - (ein blauer liquid sand Lack fällt allerdings total aus der Reihe) . 

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche ist einer der liquid sand Nagellacke und wie ich finde, der schönste der sechs Sandlacke: Make Him Mine ist ein Rosègold mit silbernen, runden Glitzerpartikeln. Er deckt nach einer Schicht schon perfekt und trocknet ratzfatz. Mit Rosègold kann man mich eigentlich immer um den Finger wickeln. Nur leider schmeichelt der Ton mir überhaupt nicht. Meine Hände wirken damit wie tot, blass und zombiemäßig. Vielleicht sollte ich Make Him Mine nochmal an Halloween aufpinseln :)

Ansonsten habe ich mich eher auf die dunkleren Farben und natürlich auch auf die Rottöne der Kollektion konzentriert. Bald hier auf dem Blog zu sehen! 

I already mentioned that I have a special relationship with Mariah Carey (read about it here) and although by now I have realized that I can't sing at all and that I don't look like her at all, the news about a Mariah Carey Holiday 2013 collection consisting of 18 new colors got me super excited! Almost immediately I picked out my favorite colors and asked Bibi to look out for them in Seattle, because it will take ages to get them here in Germany. So she did and found all the colors I wanted. The collection includes twelve colors with a creme finish and shimmery and glittery finishes and six liquid sands. One of the liquid sands and by far the prettiest is Make Him Mine. It's a rose color with silver flecks. You can reach good opacity with one coat and it dries within minutes. Man I love rose nail polishes, but unfortunately they are so unflattering for my skin tone. My hands look dead and zombie-like in a way. Maybe I should consider Make Him Mine my Halloween nail polish :) 

Nearly all colors of the Holiday collection are very much inspired by christmas and winter season - surprisingly- (there is a blue liquid sand though that looks a bit odd) and so I picked out some red and darker polishes, just the way I like my nail polishes. Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: A Butterfly Moment

Für meine Verhältnisse geht es diese Woche eher gedeckt zur Sache (aber nur auf den ersten Blick): A Butterfly Moment aus der diesjährigen Mariah Carey Kollektion ist ein Nudeton/Pfirsichton mit hübschem Schimmer in Gold und Rosè. Eigentlich total unspektakulär und trotzdem muss ich mir ständig auf die Nägel schauen. Ich habe befürchtet, dass die Optik streifig wird, aber nichts dergleichen. Zwei Schichten, Topcoat und fertig. Plus: Er trocknet auch wahnsinnig schnell.

Bei dem Namen A Butterfly Moment denke ich natürlich an Mariah und ihre Vorliebe für Schmetterlinge, aber auch an den schnellen Flügelschlag von Schmetterlingen, wenn man ganz genau hinsehen muss, um die Farbe zu erkennen (so verhält es sich auch mit diesem Nagellack)....nein? Wie auch immer :) 

Kleine Anekdote am Rande: In meinen sehr, sehr jungen Jahren wollte ich sein wie Mariah Carey. Unbedingt. Ich kann aber leider nicht singen. Überhaupt nicht. Also habe ich beschlossen, dass ich ihr Double sein muss. Ich fand die Ähnlichkeit verblüffend. Wir haben beide braune Haare. Wie einzigartig. Man konnte uns fast nicht auseinanderhalten. Altersunterschied? Ach was. Ich stand auf meinem Bett in meinem "Mariah-Kleid" und sang ihre Songs. 

Völlig klar also, dass ich die komplette Opi Kollektion haben musste. Inklusive Glitter-Topcoat. Und ich steh' nicht mal auf Glitter-Topcoat. Nicht so richtig jedenfalls.

According to my preferences this week's color appears lame (at first sight): A Butterfly Moment from this year's Mariah Carey collection is a nude/peachy color with pretty gold and pale pink shimmer. Really nothing that spectacular, but I can't stop looking at my nails. Is it the shimmer? I thought that one would be able to see the brush strokes after applying it, but as you see there is nothing of that. Two coats, a top coat and you're good to go. Huge plus: it dries very fast.

Thinking of A Butterfly Moment two things come to my mind: Mariah having a thing for butterflies and somehow also the wing beats of butterflies when you only get a glimpse of their wing‘s color as they are flying (which is totally the case with this nail polish)...no? Anyway :)

Random fact about me: In my very young years I wanted to be like Mariah Carey. I wanted to be her so badly. But unfortunately, I can't sing. Not at all. Not the tiniest bit. So I decided that I have to become her stand-in. To me we looked so much alike. We both have brown hair. So rare. No one could ever tell us apart. Discrepancy in age? What discrepancy? I can still see me standing on my bed singing her songs in my "Mariah dress". No surprise here, that I basically had to own the entire Mariah collection. Including the glitter top coat. And I don't even like glitter top coat. At least not that much.

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: The Impossible Liquid Sand

Reicht es nicht langsam mit den liquid sand-Lacken? Das ist doch langweilig, drei mal hintereinander das selbe, öde Finish. Eben nicht! Ich muss sagen, dass ich auf den Geschmack gekommen bin und mir die Sandlacke immer besser gefallen. Ich sehe mittlerweile echte Vorteile dieser Textur. Die Opi Sandlacke eignen sich auf jeden fall für Tage an denen man etwas lackier-faul ist. Sie sind viel resistenter als Cremelacke (ich liebe mein Creme-Finish nach wie vor!) und halten bei mir wirklich lange. The Impossible ist der dritte von vier liquid sand-Nagellack aus der Mariah Carey Edition und ich finde, dass dieser auch wieder eine etwas andere Textur hat als Can't Let Go und Stay the Night. The Impossible ist ein Erdbeer/Himbeerrot, das mich stark an Sommer und Eis essen erinnert. Es hat kleine pinke, rote und silberne Glitzerpartikel und wie Can‘t Let Go auch größere, runde Glitzerflecken. Eigentlich sollte auch Glitzer in sternenform dabei sein, aber den finde ich etwas "viel" und bin also auch gar nicht traurig über seine Abwesenheit.
Nächste Woche gibts dann aber keinen Sandlack. Irgendwann ist es auch mal gut ;)


Jeeez, liquid sand again? Booooring. Nope. By now I have to admit, that I really got used to it. In a good way. I definitively see some advantages here, thinking about wearing time and "resistancy" of the liquid sand-finish. Don't get me wrong, my heart still beats for a good creme, but I like how the sandy nail polish looks like and how long I get to wear it. The Impossible is the third of four liquid sand nail polishes that have been released with the Mariah Carey collection this year. I already showed you Can't Let Go and Stay the Night and I feel like they are all a little bit different. The Impossible is a gorgeous raspberry/strawberry-red with tiny pink, red and silver glitter. It also has some hex glitter in it, just like Can't Let Go. There is supposed to be some star shaped glitter in there, too. But actually I´m totally fine without that kind of glitter. Would be so over the top, right? The Impossible reminds me of summer and ice cream. By the way.
Next time I will be back with a cream-finish. No liquid sand, because we don't want to get too used to it and no, we don't believe the hype!

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Can't Let Go liquid sand

Stay the Night aus der Mariah Carey liquid sand collection habe ich bereits vorgestellt. Heute trage ich Can't Let Go, eine weitere Farbe der vier stage shades. Es ist ein mittleres Lila. Auf Bildern wirkt es aber eher blurple, also etwas zwischen Blau und Lila mit kleineren und größeren, runden lila-farbenen Glitzerpartikeln. Ich finde, dass das Sand-Finish hier weniger auffällig ist, als es bei Stay the Night der Fall ist. Trotzdem macht die Farbe richtig was her. Außerdem finde ich das "Aufräumen" hier leichter. Falls mal was daneben geht, kann man den Lack im nassen Zustand ganz leicht mir einer spitzen Feile oder einem Rosenholzstäbchen abnehmen.
Der Lack hält auch relativ lang. Stay the Night habe ich vier Tage lang ohne Tipwear auf den Nägeln gehabt. Lediglich am Daumen war ein wenig Lack abgesplittert, was daran liegen wird dass ich meinen Daumen am Samstag 40-mal in eine Bowlingkugel stecken musste.
Das Entfernen war allerdings...puuuh. Ich sag's mal so: Ich musste die Folie auspacken.

Ansonsten mag ich das Sand-Finish so langsam. Glaub ich :) 

I already showed you Stay the Night from the Mariah Carey liquid sand collection. Here's another one from the stage shades: Can't Let Go. It is a medium light purple, which looks more blurple in the pictures. Its more purple than blue in real life and it has some purple hex glitters and also smaller pieces of glitter in it. 

I really like the color although I feel like the sand finish here is not that visible, compared to Stay the Night. 

I experienced that "cleaning up" the sand finish is easier when it's still wet, so that you can take away polish that got on you cuticles or elsewhere easily. 

I wore Stay the Night for about four days without noticing tipwear. After putting my hand into the bowling ball forty times, the polish on my thumb suffered a little bit. Not very shocking...

Removing it was a pain. I had to use the foil method. Now that I've tried my second sand finish nail polish, I think I kinda like it :)

OPI Liquid Sand: Stay the Night

Leugnen ist zwecklos: Ich liebe, liebe, liebe Nagellack. Im Prinzip gibt es für mich keine unschönen, untragbaren Lackfarben. Außer wahnsinnig natürliche, transparente Töne. Sheer? Das ist für mich wie gar kein Nagellack.
Ähnlich ist es mit Trends. Ich brauche immer ein bisschen länger, um mich darauf einzulassen. Für mich geht eben nichts über einen guten, cremigen Nagellack.

Aber probieren geht über studieren. Im Januar releaste Opi mit der Mariah Carey Kollektion die ersten liquid sand-Lacke.
Die vier stage shades gab es in einer der vielen, Opi-typischen Miniversionen. Früher oder später musste ich sie haben. Stay the Night besteht aus einer schwarzen Base und pinkem/rotem Glitzer. Der Lack wird wie gewöhnlich aufgetragen und trocknet ohne Topcoat! zu einer matten, sandigen Textur. Es fühlt sich nicht an wie Schmirgelpapier, ist also gar nicht rau (auch wenn es so aussieht).
Nach zwei Schichten deckt er zuverlässig.
Da man auf einen Topcoat verzichtet, ist die Trockenzeit entsprechend länger. Nach ca. 20-30 Minuten ist aber alles gut durchgetrocknet. Zur Haltbarkeit kann ich aktuell noch nichts sagen. Ich kann mir allerdings vorstellen, dass die Oberfläche weniger anfällig ist.

Ich hab mich noch nicht wirklich entschlossen, ob ich das liquid sand-Finish gut finde oder nicht. Vielleicht muss ich dafür nochmal eine der anderen Farben probieren.

Soweit ich es in Erinnerung habe, wird es in den nächsten Kollektionen (neben der Liquid Sand Bond Girls collection die es sehr bald zu haben gibt) auch Sandlacke in einer neuen Minnie Mouse und der Herbst/Winter San Francisco Kollektion geben. Darauf bin ich schon wahnsinnig gespannt!


There's no doubt: I absolutely love nail polish. Actually there is no ugly, unwearable color for me. No wait, a nude, sheer color is something I don't like. That's like no polish at all, right?
So when it comes to certain trends, I need some time to get used to it. I just love me some good creme finish.

This january Opi released the first liquid sand formulas with the Mariah Carey collection. The four stage shades are available in the typical Opi minisets. Sooner or later I had to have those.
Stay the Night has a black base with small pink/red glitter. After applying it like your usual nail polish it dries to a textured, matte, sand like finish. No topcoat necessary. It doesn't feel rough at all. I applied two coats after a base coat. Because you need to skip the topcoat, it took the polish some 20-30 min to dry completely.
I can't say anything concerning wear time, but I think that the textured finish is not very prone to chipping.

I'm not sure yet if I really like the textured formula. Maybe I need to try some of the other colors to figure out of this could end in a long term relationship.

As far as I remember, Opi will release some more liquid sand polishes this year. Next up is the Bond Girls collection, which consists of liquid sand polishes only and should be available very soon. Followed by a new Minnie Mouse collection and the fall/winter San Francisco collection, both will have some textured finishes. I am super excited for these collections!

Der OPI Nagellack der Woche: Sprung

Beim Nagellack der Woche war es Liebe auf den ersten Blick. Als ich Sprung aus der Mariah Carey collection zum ersten Mal auf Previewbildern sah, war es um mich geschehen. Den musste ich haben! Und ich wurde nicht enttäuscht. Sprung ist ein wunderschönes schimmerndes Kupferbraun mit rosa, goldenem und rotem Glitzer. Ich liebe ihn!
Ich habe (ausnahmsweise) drei Schichten plus Topcoat lackiert, obwohl auch zwei Schichten locker ausgereicht hätten für die volle Deckkraft. Allerdings wollte ich, dass der Lack so lange wie möglich hält, weil ich mich daran nicht sattsehen kann.
So sehr ich mir den Sommer auch herbeisehne, Herbstfarben wie Sprung werden mein Herz immer erobern!

Talking about this week´s nail polish there is only one thing to say: Love at first sight. After I had seen the preview pictures of Sprung from the Mariah Carey collection, I knew that this one will be added to my collection! And this beauty didn´t disappoint me. Sprung is a stunning coppery shimmer that has some pink, red and golden hints in it. I love it!
For the pictures I used three coats (although two can be enough for full opacity) and a topcoat, because I want it to last as long as possible. Just can´t get enough of this gorgeous shimmer.
Iam really hoping that summer is coming soon, but fall colors like Sprung will always get me!
