My Kiehl's advent calendar: Days 13-24

Das Beste an Weihnachten neben Zeit mit der Familie, Essen und Geschenken? Genau, die 24 Türchen des Adventskalenders. Mein Adventskalender in diesem Jahr kam von Kiehl's und meinem boyfriend und ich muss sagen, dass ich hoch erfreut über den Inhalt war. Die ersten zwölf Tage zeigte ich bereits hier und die restlichen zwölf sollen heute folgen. Ich habe zwar noch nicht soooo viel ausprobiert, aber ein paar Eindrücke kann ich schildern. 

Wie auch schon das Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit Aromatic Mist von Tag 9 gefallen mir auch die beiden Varianten Patchouli & Fresh Rose und Vetiver & Black Tea ganz gut. Die Düfte sind leicht und leider auch sehr kurzlebig. Sind aber auch nur "mists" also eher als Duftschleier gedacht und nicht als eigentliches Parfum. Die Minigröße eignet sich natürlich hervorragend für die Hand- und oder Partytasche oder auch als Notfallduft falls man mal wieder das Parfum vergessen hat. In meinem Fall also oft. Gespannt bin ich auf die Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque von Tag 15. Den Cleanser und Toner finde ich ja schon ziemlich gut und die Maske wird wahrscheinlich auch ins Bild passen. Noch ein bisschen gespannter bin ich auf die Midnight Recovery Eye (cream? treatment? serum? Mir fehlt da ein Wort, die können das doch nicht mit Absicht machen) von Tag 14. Das Midnight Recovery Concentrate ist jetzt schon ein absolutes Musthave für mich, da erwarte ich natürlich auch eine ähnlich gute Leistung von der Augenpflege. Das Ausprobieren muss allerdings noch ein wenig warten bis mein Creamy Eye Treatment aufgebraucht ist. Die Produkte der Tage 16-18 warten noch auf ihren Einsatz.

Den Skin Rescuer Stress-Minimizing Daily Hydrator (Tag 19) habe ich vorgestern das erste Mal bei Wind, Schnee und Kälte aufgetragen und muss leider feststellen, dass er in Kombination mit Foundation oder Puder etwas zu reichhaltig für meine Haut ist. Solo super, aber in Kombination leider eher weniger. Von der Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque habe ich schon oft positive Reviews gelesen und kaum war das Türchen mit der Nummer 20 geöffnet, kam das erste Sachet auch schon rauf aufs Gesicht. Meine Wangenpartie ist im Moment etwas gereizt und fand die Maske nicht so grandios, aber der Rest meines Gesichts war danach babyhautweich. Sollte sich die Haut an meinen Wangen demnächst auch noch damit anfreunden können, haben wir hier einen Nachkaufkandidaten. Die Actively Correcting &Beautyfying BB Cream (Tag 21) ist auch ganz nice. Die Konsistenz ist dünn genug um nicht maskenhaft zu wirken und der hohe Lichtschutzfaktor ist top. Die Farbe Natural ist nur leider zu dunkel für mich und dunkelt gefühlt noch ordentlich nach. "Du sieht so braun aus. Frisch, aber braun" - da ich normalerweise eher leichenblass bin, war das ein deutlicher Hinweis meiner Freunde darauf, dass ich das nächste Mal keine braune Schuhcreme fürs Gesicht benutzen soll. Die Ultimate Strength Hand Salve in Fullsize gab es am letzten Tag und wurde auch schon fleißig ausprobiert. Sie pflegt die Hände butterweich, ist aber auch sehr reichhaltig und die Handinnenflächen haben auch lange etwas davon. Ich trage sie daher lieber nachts auf und lasse sie als Maske einwirken. 

Fazit: Ein paar neue Lieblinge waren auf jeden fall dabei und sollte es den Kalender im nächsten Jahr wieder geben, wird er ratzfatz bestellt. 

I do love a good advent calendar and although chocolate is pretty much everything, this year I opted for a fancy beauty calendar and the one by Kiehl's just seemed like the best option. I already showed you the content of days 1-12 (this way for all the details) and today I want to show you what came next. 

I liked the Nashi Blossom & Pink Grapefruit Aromatic Mist I got on day nine and the other scents Patchouli & Fresh Rose and Vetiver & Black Tea are also very lovely. They are aromatic mists and so they aren't long lasting and I have to sprizz them on quite often if I intend to wear them as a fragrance, but they are great to carry them around in your purse or party bag for a quick fresh up. I can't wait to try out Kiehl's Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque (day 15). The Ultra Facial Cleanser and Toner already own a spot in my heart and I'm pretty sure that the masque is only waiting in line to be loved. I am beyond excited that they put the Midnight Recovery Eye (cream? or is it a treatment? I feel like there's a word missing in the product's name, what are you doing to me Kiehl's? I need a clear description of the stuff I'm using) in the calendar. I've fallen head over heels in love with the Midnight Recovery Concentrate and believe that I will love the eye cream/treatment/concentrate as well, buuuut I want to use up the Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado first.

When the first snow in december was falling on monday I used the Skin Rescuer Stress-Minimizing Daily Hydrator (day 19) for the first time and I learned the hard way that in my case it is best to use this on its own without foundation or powder, because otherwise the foundation gets patchy on my skin. I read some good reviews on their Rare Earth Deep Pore Cleansing Masque (day 20), I think someone raved about this on into the gloss and that's when I really got interested in it. So as soon as I spotted it in my calendar I ribbed one of the little packages open and put the greyish mud all over my face. The skin on my cheeks is irritated at the moment, only lord knows why and unfortunately the masque didn't improve the redness there but the rest of my face responded well to it with incredibly soft skin. I think I'm getting the full size. On day 21 a sample of Kiehl's Actively Correcting &Beautyfying BB Cream made an appearance in the calendar and only a few minutes later on my face. It doesn't look cakey and I like that it protects my skin with SPF 50. It's available in four shades and "Natural" is definitely too dark for me. It even gets darker once it dried down and my friends told me that I look "unusually fresh and tanned". Well I don't get much of a tan, so yes this was a nice way of saying "what ever is on your face, get it off". On christmas eve the second full size product, the Ultimate Strength Hand Salve waited behind the last door. Actually this doesn't feel too thick, but it gets all greasy in my palms so I prefer to use this as a hand mask at nights. 

Let's hope this advent calendar will be back next year.

Douglas Produkttest Smashbox: Full Exposure Mascara, 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio Filter und Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes

Vor nicht allzu langer Zeit hat Douglas wieder zu einem Produkttest aufgerufen. Ich hatte Glück und konnte ein vierteiliges Set von Smashbox testen. Ich kannte bisher nur den Photo Finish Foundation Primer der Marke und fand den schon ziemlich gut.

Mein Set besteht aus der Full Exposure Mascara, dem 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, dem Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in der Farbe Filter und der Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes. Also alles Produkte, die man für ein perfektes Augen Makeup braucht. 

Today I would like to introduce you to some products by Smashbox. I received a four piece set to play around, thanks to Douglas. My set consists of the Full Exposure Mascara, the 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer, Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in Filter and their new Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes. 

Los geht's mit der Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black. Sie verspricht bis zu "14% mehr Volumen, bis zu 32% mehr Länge und bis zu 34 Grad stärker geschwungene Wimpern" (Quelle Douglas). Die Mascara ist in der Tat tiefschwarz. Das Bürstchen ist riesig. Ich verstehe den volumenspendenden Sinn dahinter, aber man tuscht fast automatisch ein bisschen Lid mit. Eine etwas kleinere Bürste wäre von Vorteil. Und leider hält sie nicht, was sie verspricht. Ich muss dazu sagen, dass meine Wimpern der Horror sind. Sie sind super gerade, müssen ca. 15Min mit der Wimpernzange bearbeitet werden und halten den leichten Schwung dann auch nur mit manchen (!) wasserfesten Wimperntuschen. Die Full Exposure Mascara von Smashbox lässt meinen hart erarbeiteten Schwung einfach verschwinden. Meine Wimpern biegen sich automatisch wieder nach unten. I'm not amused. Allerdings muss man hier die tiefschwarze Färbung positiv erwähnen. Außerdem bröckelt sie auch kaum.
Auf den Bildern unten habe ich meine Wimpern einmal mit meiner regulären Mascara getuscht und einmal mit der Full Exposure. Die Lichtverhältnisse waren leider nicht optimal, aber ich hoffe man erkennt meine Absicht dahinter. 

Let's start with the Full Exposure Mascara in Jet Black. It is supposed to add "14% more volume to lashes, 32% more length and curl lashes for about 34 degree" (source: Douglas). First things I noticed were that this mascara is really black, which is good and the second thing is the huge mascara wand. I can see why they chose a big wand like this for volume, but it's so huge, that I end up with mascara all over my eyes when using it. No matter how hard I try not to touch my eyelid, it happens anyway. So what's up with volume and length? Unfortunately not much. I think I mentioned it before, but my lashes are super straight. I need 15 minutes to curl them with my lash curler and most mascaras don't succeed in holding the damn curl. There are only a few waterproof mascaras that can do the trick. And the Full Exposure mascara doesn't belong to these chosen ones. What's good about it though, is that it doesn't smudge easily.
I included two pictures below. Number one shows my lashes when using a waterproof mascara and number two when using the Full Exposure mascara.

Der 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer schneidet da schon viel besser ab. Der Primer verspricht intensive Farbe und langen Halt. Das kommt hin. Ob es wirklich 24h Stunden sind, kann ich nicht bestätigen, weil ich mich selten 24h lang geschminkt rumtreibe ;) Aber einen halben Tag schafft mein Augen Makeup damit locker. Die Base ist durchsichtig und geruchsneutral. Es wird empfohlen, den Primer 60 Sekunden trocknen zu lassen, bevor Lidschschatten aufgetragen wird. Das würde ich auch jedem ans Herz legen, weil der Lidschatten sonst gleich in die Fältchen wandert. Wir wissen alle wie das dann aussieht und das will doch keiner. 

Fazit: Top Produkt! 

I am much more amused with the 24 Hour Photo Finish Shadow Primer. It promises to make eyeshadows really pop and a lasting time of 24h. I haven't worn my eye make up for 24 hours, but it lasted nearly all day with this primer. This base is sheer and fragrance free. They recommend to let the primer dry for 60 seconds before the application of any eye shadow. I recommend to do so. I didn't wait the first time and my eye shadow ended up having a private party in my eyelid creases. No one likes that. So sit down for this one minute and then let the primer do it's magic. 

Wo ein Lidschatten Primer ist, kann der Lidschatten nicht weit sein. Das Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in der Farbe Filter wurde auch gleich mitgeliefert. Es besteht aus den Farben Vanilla, Sable und Sumatra. Die Nuancen sind perfekt aufeinander abgestimmt und schön natürlich. Nach jahrelangem Lidschatten-Missbrauch in meiner Teenagerzeit, genieße ich Farbe auf meinen Augenlidern lieber wenig bis gar nicht dosiert. Hier mache ich aber gerne eine Ausnahme. Vanilla eignet sich natürlich optimal als Highlighter unter der Braue. Sable als Base für Sumatra und fertig. Die Farben sind matt und nicht zu pudrig. In Verbindung mit dem Primer bleibt die Farbe den ganzen Tag an Ort und Stelle. 

Nur am Rande: Vanilla ist nicht ganz so stark pigmentiert wie Sable oder Sumatra.

A primer needs eye shadow to show the world how great it is. That's what the folks over at Douglas thought and so they included the Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio in Filter in the set. It consists of three perfectly matching shades: Vanilla, Sable and Sumatra. Vanilla is perfect for highlighting (thinking inner eye corners and eye brow), Sable is a great light brown base for Sumatra, which adds definition. All colors are rather matte and not too powdery. Vanilla is a tad less pigmented than Sable or Sumatra. I like that Filter provides a very natural looking eye make up. I excessively used eye shadow in my teenage years and tend to stay away from every form of it now, but I like what Smashbox has done here. 

Das Produkt auf das ich am meisten gespannt war, ist die Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes in der hellsten Nuance Light. Wir kennen BB, CC und wahrscheinlich auch schon DD creams. Für das Gesicht. Aber eine BB Cream fürs Auge? Das ist neu. Was kann sie denn so? Laut Hersteller vereint sie alle Eigenschaften einer BB-Cream, mit der Pflege einer Augencreme. Sie soll zudem den Concealer ablösen, dunkle Augenschatten kaschieren, Schwellungen mindern, empfindliche Haut beruhigen und Frische verleihen. Außerdem hat sie einen SPF 15. Farblich passt sie schon mal sehr gut zu meinem Teint. Ist weder zu hell, noch zu dunkel für meine Augenpartie. Die BB Cream Eyes wird mittels integriertem Pinsel aufgetragen. Das Produkt gelangt durch einen Knopf-Mechanismus in den Pinsel. Anfangs erwischt man gerne mal zu viel, aber das legt sich. Ich trage die Cream zwar mit dem integrierten Pinsel auf, arbeite sie aber mit meinem normalen Concealer Pinsel ein und sette das Ganze dann mit Puder. Wie auch bei meinen anderen Concealern, setzt sich das Produkt gerne in Lichtgeschwindigkeit in meinen Fältchen ab, wenn ich es nicht sofort abpudere. Das trocknet die Haut natürlich ein wenig aus und wird nach einiger Zeit leider etwas cakey. Die Deckkraft ist okay, die Augenpartie wird auch etwas aufgehellt. Als Concealer-Alternative durchaus denkbar. 

The last product of the bunch was the one that got my attention from the beginning: Smashbox released a BB Cream for Eyes. Their Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes in Light is supposed to offer you all the benefits of a BB cream, but not for your face but eyes. I mean we have seen hundreds of BB, CC and I think also DD creams, so why not BB our eyes? What to expect from this innovation? Smashbox says that it can cover dark under eye shadows, depuff and hydrate eyes and do the work of a traditional concealer. It also includes a SPF 15. "Light" is a great match for my skin tone, not too much yellow or pink. The packaging includes a brush for application, it basically works like the Touché Éclat. I apply it with the pen, but prefer to use my regular concealer brush to work it into my skin. Like with any other concealer, I have to use powder afterwards to set it. Otherwise the concealer just disappears in my creases. Because of the powder my under eye area becomes dry during the day and the concealer gets a slightly cakey finish. I have experienced this with a lot of concealers, so nothing new here. It may be an alternative to your regular concealer, but it is not overwhelmingly innovative. 

Insgesamt schneiden alle Produkte nicht schlecht ab. Höchstes Lob verdient der 24 Hour Photo Finish Eye Shadow Primer, gefolgt von dem Photo OP Eye Shadow Trio. Die Full Exposure Mascara funktioniert vielleicht nur in Verbindung mit meinen Wimpern nicht. Wer nicht ganz so widerspenstige Wimpern hat, kann sein Glück versuchen. Die Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes ist ein guter Concealer, aber keine weltbewegende Innnovation. 

Overall these four products are of good quality and some of them can live up to their promises. The 24 Hour Photo Finish Eye Shadow Primer deserves top ratings, the Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio is also a good choice. The Full Exposure Mascara might work great on other lashes (less straight) than mine. The Camera Ready BB Cream Eyes is good concealer, but no game changer.

Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30

Vor einiger Zeit kaufte ich mir die Clinique Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30 in der Reisegröße (15ml) bei Douglas. Gleich vorab: Ich bin dem BB Trend etwas hinterher, da es ja bereits unzählige CC Creams gibt. Irgendwie habe ich nie eine Creme gefunden, die mich wirklich überzeugte. So leider auch diese hier nicht.


Im Onlineshop von Douglas findet sich folgende Beschreibung:

Die BB Cream ist ein absolutes Multitalent. Sie fungiert als Concealer und Primer und gibt der Haut nahezu alles, was sie braucht: Schutz, Pflege, Schönheit. Die ölfreie Formel schützt vor frühzeitiger Hautalterung und Umwelteinflüssen und sorgt zudem für eine optische Optimierung des Teints. Die Tönung passt sich optimal dem eigenen Hautton an. Feine Linien und Fältchen wirken minimiert. Die Haut wird beruhigt und durchfeuchtet. Dadurch sieht sie sichtbar glatter und jugendlicher aus. Das Feuchtigkeitslevel der Haut wird stabilisiert, während Öl und Glanz kontrolliert werden. Die Haltbarkeit der Foundation wird deutlich verbessert. Für jeden Hauttyp geeignet, selbst für empfindliche Haut. 

Die kleine Creme ist der Verpackung des Originalproduktes (40ml) nachempfunden. Der Preis für 40ml liegt bei Douglas bei 29,95€. Die kleine Tube mit 15ml-Inhalt hat 7€ gekostet.
Erhältlich ist die BB Cream in drei Farben, Nr.01-03. Entschieden habe ich mich für die Farbe Nr.02. Ich habe zwar relativ helle Haut, aber der Farbton Nr. 01 war deutlich zu hell. Nr.02 erschien mir erst zu dunkel, im Gesicht aufgetragen hat er mich allerdings wahnsinnig blass gemacht. Ja, noch blasser als sonst (ohne getönte Tagescreme und Bronzer. Obwohl nein. Inklusive getönte Tagescreme und Bronzer).
Die Creme ist komplett geruchsneutral. Die Konsistenz ist nicht zu fest und nicht zu flüssig und lässt sich gut verteilen. Im Gesicht betont sie keine trockenen Stellen und glättet die Haut auch minimal. So angenehm sich die Textur auch verteilen lässt, so unangenehm liegt sie danach auf der Haut. Vielleicht ist es eine sehr subjektive Wahrnehmung, aber ich fühle die "schwere Cremeschicht" den ganzen Tag über im Gesicht. Es fühlt sich an wie eine Maske. Und sieht bei mir anscheinend auch so aus. Meiner Umwelt ist die neue Optik auch aufgefallen: "Du siehst anders aus. So blass und fahl. Bist du krank?"Nein, eigentlich nicht.
Den hohen Lichtschutzfaktor finde ich natürlich super, aber der maskenhafte Effekt ist einfach nicht mein Ding.

Some time ago I purchased Clinique's Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30 in a travel size (15ml/0.5OZ) at my local Douglas. BB Creams have been around for quite a long time now and Iam aware of the fact that there are already CC Creams, but I haven't found the perfect BB cream for me yet. And I'm still searching.

Clinique's homepage offers this description for the BB Cream: Age defense BB (Beauty Balm) Cream offers SPF protection, antioxidants for prevention, plus enough coverage to banish imperfections. The perfect primer, too.

The original sized cream contains 40ml/1.4OZ and retails for 29,95€ at Douglas. The travel size costs about 7€.
In Germany there are three shades available Nr.01-03 (there are four in the states). I chose Nr.02, which at first appeared a tad too dark for my skin color, but shade Nr.01 was way too pale. Unfortunately even Nr.02 turned out to be too pale for me. I mean, I tend to look dead without tinted moisturizer and bronzer, well sometimes even with tinted moisturizer and bronzer, but this cream really did my skintone no good.
Clinique's BB Cream is fragrance free. It has a rather soft texture that blends well. It doesn't emphasize pores or dry skin areas and has a skin smoothing effect. What is really frustratig me is that this BB cream feels heavy and uncomfortable on the skin. It nearly feels like a mask and according to the people around me it does look like a mask and makes my face look unhealthy and pale. No, thanks.
I like the SPF 30, but the way Clinique's BB Cream feels and looks on my skin is not satisfying at all. So the hunt for the ultimate BB cream goes on...

Mein Beautytäschchen hat ein wenig Zuwachs bekommen.

Bei Douglas gibt es im Moment Rabatt auf die Lip Liner von NYX. Statt 4,95€ zahlt man mit der Douglas-Card nur 1,95€. Natürlich war schwarz schon vergriffen, aber mit 853 Brown Black kann ich auch gut leben. Auch wenn Lip Liner draufsteht, es ist ein Kajalstift. Wer braucht denn im wahren Leben einen so dunklen Lip Liner?

Außerdem gibt es die Age Defense BB Cream SPF 30 von Clinique in der Farbe 02 in der 15ml-Probiergröße für 7€. Eigentlich ist der ganze Hype um BB-Cremes völlig an mir vorbeigegangen. Es gibt schon CC-Cremes (und DD-Cremes?) und ich komm jetzt damit um die Ecke. Klar, habe ich schon das eine oder andere Pröbchen getestet, aber begeistern konnte mich keine...

Da ich Clinique ja nicht abgeneigt bin, habe ich diesmal zugeschlagen. Getestet habe ich sie allerdings noch nicht, aber eine Review wird folgen. 

Den yammy Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm von The Body Shop hat mir meine Shopping-ABF Anna mitgebracht. Wie der riecht! Leider habe ich schon drin rumgematscht, bevor ich fotografiert habe...aber das spricht ja nur für den Lippenbalsam :) Er macht die Lippen super weich und lässt sie leicht glänzen. Nice. 

Und zum Schluss das Schnäppchen der Woche: Bei TkMaxx habe ich die Slant Powder Brush von Benefit für 7,99€ ergattert. Der Pinsel ist bei Benefit nicht mehr erhältlich, deswegen wohl auch bei TKMaxx zu finden. Ich habe ihn noch nicht auf Herz&Nieren geprüft, aber soweit finde ich ihn ganz gut.

I mean who needs a black lip liner in real life?) in 853 Brown Black (black was already sold out) for 1,95€ instead of the regular 4,95€. 

They also offer a 15ml-Deluxesample of Clinique's Age Defense BB Cream with SPF 30 in shade 02. The whole BB-cream hype somehow didn't touch me at all. I mean there are even CC-creams (and DD?) on the market and I got my first BB-cream. I had some samples before, but I didn't like any of them. But Clinique always gets me...I haven't tested it yet, but I will keep you updated. 

My shopping-bf Anna gifted me a jar of The Body Shop's Born Lippy Strawberry Lip Balm. It's sooo yammy and leaves my lips hydrated and with a hint of shine. I couldn't take pictures before applying it for the first time. Sorry for that, but please see it as an evident for its yumminess (is that a word?).

Last up is a total bargain: I found Benefit's Slant Powder Brush at my local TkMaxx for 7,99€. I believe that it is discontinued, so maybe that's why they sell it at TkMaxx. But who cares? I have tested it a couple times and I like what I see so far.
