Letztes Wochenende verbrachte ich mit meinem Freund und zwei guten Freunden in Brüssel. Das Wetter war zwar nicht immer auf unserer Seite, aber wir haben das Beste daraus gemacht.
Mit dem Thalys sind wir schwuppdiwupp in weniger als zwei Stunden von Köln nach Brüssel gereist. Eingecheckt haben wir im Hotel
Bloom. Vielleicht kein Burj al arab, aber die von internationalen Künstlern individuell gestalteten Zimmer sind genau richtig für einen Städtetrip.
Der Grand Place in Brüssels Zentrum ist wirklich ein hübscher Mittelpunkt und zauberhaft beleuchtet bei Nacht. Wir sind immer mal wieder dorthin zurückgekehrt um die Fotospeicherkarte zu füllen.
An jeder Ecke findet man typisch belgische Brasserien und unzählige nostalgische Pralinenläden. Man kann sich nicht dagegen wehren: Früher oder später macht man sich mit einem Sack wahnsinnig leckerer Pralinès und Kekse und Macarons auf den Heimweg. Es macht aber auch einfach Spaß sich von dem süßen Duft belgischer Waffeln durch die kleinen Gässchen treiben zu lassen.
Natürlich haben wir auch ein wenig geshoppt (Was genau? Siehe unten). Am Sale bei Zara kommt niemand vorbei ;) Außerdem habe ich dort die spitzen Sandalen mit den Fesselriemen bekommen hinter denen ich lange her war. Im Onlineshop waren sie längst ausverkauft und ich hatte schon die Befürchtung sie nicht mehr zu bekommen...und dann taa-daa: Unter einem Berg von Jeanshosen begraben lagen sie. Das letzte Paar in meiner Größe. Glück gehabt!
Ein Muss für alle Comicfans ist natürlich auch das belgische
Comic Zentrum, das nur einen Steinwurf von unserem Hotel entfernt war. Von lebensgroßen Lucky Luke Figuren bis hin zu einer Erotikcomic-Ecke gibt es dort viel zu sehen und auch allerhand zu kaufen: Bücher, Comichefte, Postkarten, Sammelfiguren, Schlüsselanhänger....
Es gibt aber auch Dinge, die uns leider ein wenig negativ im Gedächtnis bleiben werden. Erstens die, ich nenne es mal "begrenzte Sauberkeit" der Stadt und zweitens die häufig unfreundliche Art der Einheimischen. Wir hatten oft das Gefühl, dass wir als Deutsche nicht unbedingt gern gesehene Gäste waren und unser Gegenüber (sei es ein Kellner oder einfach nur ein Passant auf der Straße) ziemlich wortkarg war und den bösen Blick scheinbar auf Lebenszeit gepachtet hat.
Trotzdem war es ein toller Trip. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass Brüssel im Sommer noch viel mehr zu bieten hat.
Reisen ist grundsätzlich immer toll. Die vielen neuen Eindrücke die man mitnimmt sind immer bereichernd und es ist gut mal rauszukommen und etwas anderes zu sehen, hören und zu schmecken.
Last weekend my boyfriend, two of our good friends and I spent some time in Brussels. We had some rainy and windy days, but we enjoyed it anyway.
It took us less than two hours to get there via Thalys and afterwards we checked into Hotel
Bloom. Maybe its not the Burj al arab, but just fine for a short trip. All rooms are designed individually by international artists. Our room for example had black and red flowers painted on the wall.
The Grand Place located in Brussels city center is a very pretty highlight and is really beautiful at night. I think we took a million pictures there.
On every corner there are Brasseries that are so typical for brussels and these nostalgic little shops that sell delicious boxes of chocolate. I tried to resist, but there is no escape. Sooner or later you return home with heavy bags filled with lots of chocolate and cookies and macarons.
It is so much fun just to walk around the alleys that are filled with the smell of freshly baked belgian waffles.
Of course we spent some time shopping (all details on that are in the gallery below). It is sale time at ZARA, do I have to say more? I purchased these black heels with the ankle strap I was looking for desperately the last months. Online shop: out of stock. All my local ZARA stores: sold out. Last pair hidden under a pile of jeans at a ZARA store in Brussels: Jackpot! Lucky me :)
As you already know, I´m a fan of comics. Visiting the belgian
comic center was a major point on my Brussels to do-list. There is so much fun stuff to see. Starting with life-sized comic heroes to adult only-comics. The souvenir shop offers tons of comics and cards and books and keychains and......so on.
But there are also some negative things we noticed. First of all there were many places that were not so nice-nice. To put it in a word: dirty. Really dirty. Second thing is, that all people we met there (waiters, inhabitants) were unfriendly. They seem to have an aversion to people from Germany. Sad, but that is what we have experienced during our stay in Brussels...
Overall it was a nice trip. I can imagine that Brussels is very lovely during the summer months and has much more to offer.
I love traveling, because it is always good to experience something new and to discover new places, to hear, see and taste things that you haven´t before.
